Silver Ghost Servicing & Maintenance

A Workshop for Trouble-Free Touring

Who: Everyone interested in learning more about Silver Ghost servicing, maintenance, and keeping their Ghost running reliably on tour.

Where: The Top Secret SGA World Headquarters Research Facility, high atop the Illinois mountains near Taylorville, Illinois.

Why: So you're not stranded on the side of the road during a tour, silly!

What We'll Cover

Topics will include (unless we change our minds!):

  • Pre-tour servicing and preparation

  • Ignition systems

  • Carburetion and adjustment

  • Valve adjustment

  • Valve lapping and grinding of valves and seats

  • General care, maintenance, and feeding of your Silver Ghost

What Else?

Questions on other topics are enthusiastically encouraged! Bring along anything Ghostly you've been wondering about. This is your opportunity to ask questions, exchange knowledge, and learn from fellow enthusiasts.

Words of Wisdom

Wisdom will be generously provided by Sir Henry's Ghosts. Eight have agreed to attend—four early and four late, some Springfield and some English. You know, all the big ones!

One is even the oldest surviving Ghost in the world. Surely that one has a thing or two to teach us!

Join us for an entertaining and informative gathering dedicated to keeping our Silver Ghosts on the road and touring trouble-free!

Registration & Accommodations

Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged!

Group size will be restricted, and the first registrants will receive special accommodations. Later registrants will need to arrange their own lodging, but we'll be happy to offer some suggestions.

SGA Members Only: This workshop is designed specifically for SGA members who want to develop their own mechanical knowledge and maintenance skills. Professional mechanics should not register, and attendees are asked not to bring their mechanics. We want to reserve the limited space for fellow SGA enthusiasts eager to learn how to care for their own Ghosts.

Spouses Welcome: Spouse members with an interest in the cars are welcome to register and participate in the workshop. Spouses who prefer to simply enjoy the trip are equally welcome to accompany registered attendees without paying the workshop registration fee. Separate charges will apply for meals and other activities for non-registered spouses.

Registration Fees

  • $400 per registrant: Includes participation in the technical sessions.

  • $75 per non-participating guest: For spouses and other accompanying guests joining us for provided meals, refreshments, and related activities.
