The Silver Ghost
Association
The SGA is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that exists to promote the use of Silver Ghosts and to provide technical support, touring opportunities, as well as parts and supplies for their maintenance. It does not conduct judged meets, as the spirit of comradeship vs. competition is foremost in the club. Judged events where a Silver Ghost can compete are organized by the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, the Classic Car Club of America, the Antique Car Club of America, and numerous concours events.
In promoting the use of Silver Ghost automobiles, the SGA sponsors tours each year of varying lengths and in different
parts of the country. These tours, organized by members of the SGA, provide the opportunity for owners to enjoy their Silver Ghost on the open road as originally intended some one hundred years ago. Hotels are selected by the organizers, along with meal locations and interesting destinations, with roads chosen to provide the most scenic routing. Silver Ghost automobiles are supremely reliable as well as fun to drive. Fellow tourers are happy to provide support along the way if needed, and daily mileage covered is easily within the comfort of the car and driver. Because of the car’s reliability and the ability to draw upon the expertise of other Ghost owners, it is usually not necessary to have a trouble truck accompany tours.
The SGA is unusual among car clubs in offering members a large selection of parts and supplies through its Club Store. Many of these items cannot be found through other sources for Silver Ghost parts and are fairly priced. Thus the Club Store supports the mission of the SGA in furthering the use and reliability of the Silver Ghost.
The SGA quarterly publication, The Silver Ghost Tourer, is an invaluable resource with articles on maintenance, repairs, touring, and the history of these fine cars. Those considering purchase of a Silver Ghost will find this publication to contain information which will help them better understand these cars and will aid in guiding their decision as to exactly which type of Ghost they will wish to buy. Previous issues of the Silver Ghost Tourer are available for purchase through the Club Store.
A club technical advisor is available to contact should you have any technical questions about your Silver Ghost, and new members have access to club ambassadors for questions of a more general nature.
These membership benefits make joining the SGA an excellent value and add greatly to your appreciation of your Silver Ghost.
Wholly Ghost Tours
The Silver Ghost is an incredibly rugged and reliable machine when maintained correctly. Many owners use their Silver Ghost regularly to attend events, go shopping and of course, tour with other classic cars, particularly Silver Ghost automobiles.
The Silver Ghost Association’s members regularly volunteer to run tours or events that can last from just a few days to a few weeks. These include the annual “Wholly Ghost Tour” and “The Winter Fling,” a social event with a technical session mixed in. It is not uncommon for a Silver Ghost to reliably cover a few thousand miles while on tour with other similar cars. Tours take place around the United States and at times, overseas. While the cars are the highlight of these unique events, it is the people and relationships that are the highlight of these drives. Touring comes with the benefit of a mutual ‘club within a club’ where drivers help each other, compare notes, enjoy great scenery (and perhaps a rainy day or two) and during ‘restoration hour' at the end of each day, toast to another great day of safe, scenic, and enjoyable touring, meals and locations. Members recognize the uniqueness of what they are driving on tour and how much of the public has never been near or in an older car. Oftentimes, a tour will stop at a school or other venue to share the cars with the residents and children and relate their interesting history. These stops are extremely well received and furthers the SGA’s mission.
